PM Modi Urges Media to Support Citizen Initiatives, Inaugurates INS Towers in Mumbai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the media to aid the government in promoting citizen-friendly initiatives. Highlighting the success of the environment-conservation initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ which has received global acclaim, Modi emphasized that the media could play a crucial role in transforming such initiatives into mass movements. He underscored the significance of newspapers and magazines in the next 25-year journey towards a developed India (Viksit Bharat), applauding their role in raising awareness about individual and collective strengths.

The Prime Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) Towers at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. He stressed that, given the prevalence of digital editions among media houses, efforts should be made to publish versions in international languages to disseminate the Indian perspective globally.

The inauguration event saw the attendance of Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, along with INS President Rakesh Sharma.

The new INS Secretariat at Bandra Kurla Complex is a modern, centrally air-conditioned 14-story building, boasting around 1,80,000 square feet of space and housing 275 car parking slots. Various medium and large member publications that applied for office space have been allocated units in this state-of-the-art facility.
