Transforming Dreams: Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Bold Rs 500 Crore Initiative to Propel Jagiroad into a Thriving Industrial Hub
On August 3, a pivotal event will herald the beginning of the Tata semiconductor project, aimed at transforming Jagiroad into an industrial powerhouse. The project’s commencement ceremony, known as “bhoomi pujan,” will kick off construction scheduled to be completed in two years.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the project, emphasizing its potential to attract international companies and bolster local infrastructure. “The Tata semiconductor project, valued at Rs 30,000 crore, will significantly enhance Jagiroad’s industrial landscape,” Sarma remarked.
Sarma also unveiled plans to upgrade the transportation link between Guwahati and Jagiroad with a Rs 500 crore investment, which includes constructing a Ring Road in Jorabat.
He provided assurances that the project would respect the land rights of local tribals and lead to substantial improvements in Jagiroad’s social infrastructure. Additionally, the project will support the rejuvenation of the Jagiroad Paper plant and position the region as a satellite city connected to Guwahati through new roads, thereby reducing travel distance.
The announcement was made at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s office in Jagiroad. Chief Minister Sarma was accompanied by Minister Piyush Hazarika and MLAs Rupak Sharma, Jeetu Goswami, Shashikant Das, and Ramakant Deori, underscoring the project’s significance for the region’s future.
