Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for 2022 Murders in Dhalai District
Agartala, July 11, 2024: In a significant verdict, the Session Judge of Dhalai District Court has handed a life sentence to a man convicted of a double murder that shook Raishyabari in 2022.
As per a statement from the Tripura Police, Dhana Bikash Tripura, a resident of Raishyabari, was found guilty of murdering three individuals on October 21, 2022. Among the victims were Mungkrwiti Tripura (70) and Fulangshri Tripura (60) from Manya Kumar Para in Dhalai. The gruesome attack involved an axe, leading to their immediate demise upon arrival at Raishyabari Primary Health Centre, according to the medical personnel on duty.
Inspector Chaitanya Reang, Officer-in-Charge of Raishyabari Police Station, spearheaded a comprehensive investigation, culminating in a charge sheet that led to the conviction.
On July 11, 2024, the Sessions Judge in Ambassa sentenced Dhana Bikash Tripura to life imprisonment under Section 302 IPC, along with a fine of Rs. 10,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment. Furthermore, he received an additional three years of rigorous imprisonment and another fine of Rs. 10,000 under Section 201 IPC, also with a default imprisonment clause of six months.
This judgment underscores the relentless efforts of law enforcement and the justice system in pursuing and penalizing severe crimes in the region.
