On July 8, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, made his third trip to Manipur, meeting with the state’s Governor alongside Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi and Security Adviser Kuldeip Singh. The session also included prominent Congress leaders from Manipur, such as Okram Ibobi Singh, Keisham Meghachandra, and Gaikhangam.

During this visit, Gandhi toured relief camps in the Jiribam and Churachandpur districts, engaging with residents displaced by the ethnic violence that has plagued the northeastern state. The ongoing unrest has tragically resulted in over 200 deaths since May of the previous year, forcing many to seek refuge in camps.
