Shocking Worli Hit-and-Run: Two Arrested! CM Vows Justice, Aaditya Ensures ‘No Political Refuge’
A damaged BMW car allegedly involved in a fatal accident that killed a woman was found parked at Worli Police Station in Mumbai on July 7, 2024. Two individuals were arrested after the accident, which occurred on Annie Besant Road at around 5:30 a.m. Kaveri Nakhwa (45) was riding a scooter with her husband Pradip when the BMW driver, Rajesh Shah, lost control and collided with them, resulting in her death. Shah and the car’s other occupant, Rajrishi Rajendrasingh Bidawat, were detained at the police station. Following a preliminary investigation, both were arrested and charged under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that the law applies equally to everyone, dismissing any suspicions of political influence in the case. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray emphasized that there shouldn’t be any political refuge for the culprits and urged the police for swift action. He, along with MLC Sunil Shinde, visited the police station and met with senior officers, promising justice for the victim’s family.
This incident mirrors a previous high-profile case from May 19, where a Porsche accident in Pune resulted in the deaths of two IT professionals. The accused, an inebriated minor, received bail on lenient terms, prompting a national outcry and revealing an alleged attempt to tamper with evidence.
In both cases, the public and officials demand strict accountability and impartial enforcement of the law.
