Outraged CPIM Leader Jitendra Chaudhury Slams Tripura’s Law and Order Collapse, Claims Constitutional Rights in Crisis

Tripura CPIM state committee secretary Jitendra Chaudhury claimed on Monday, July 15, that Tripura’s law and order situation has completely collapsed and constitutional rights are severely compromised under BJP rule. This statement followed a nomination filing rally in Santchand Rural Development Block, South District, where some participants were reportedly attacked with stones by alleged BJP-backed miscreants.

Chaudhury accused the police of inaction, asserting that CPIM workers were pelted with stones in front of law enforcement officers as they exited the block office after submitting nominations. “No one was injured, but the intent was to provoke us,” he noted. Despite the attack, CPIM members refrained from retaliation to focus on their primary goal of filing nominations.

He expressed concern for the safety of CPIM workers and candidates, stating, “We don’t know if our workers and candidates can safely return home.” Chaudhury emphasized that CPIM’s efforts to restore democracy are being undermined by a “collapsed” law and order system and “paralyzed” constitutional rights, describing the current scenario as a “rule of the jungle.”

He further alleged that BJP workers, with police complicity, are preventing other political parties from filing nominations. “The police are silent spectators, enabling the ruling party to erode democracy step by step,” he said. Chaudhury called for a united front against BJP’s governance, warning that failure to act collectively would jeopardize efforts to restore law and order and protect democracy.
