Rahul Gandhi’s Bold Promise: Caste Census & Employment Generation to Rebuild ‘Devastated’ Haryana under BJP Rule
NATIONAL, News Alert
Karnal (Haryana), Sep 26: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi kicked off his campaign in election-bound Haryana on Thursday, criticizing the BJP government for failing to generate employment and causing the state’s youth to seek opportunities abroad. During a rally in Assandh, Karnal, Gandhi highlighted the plight of young Haryanvis, sharing an anecdote from a recent trip to Dallas, USA, where he met several immigrants living in cramped conditions after spending large sums to move abroad due to lack of job opportunities at home.
Gandhi was accompanied by senior Congress leaders, including ex-Union minister Kumari Selja and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda. He underscored the need for a caste census to ensure that 90% of the country’s population receive their rightful share, arguing that the lack of representation in the corporate sector marginalizes a significant portion of society.
Emphasizing that a Congress government would address everyone’s concerns, Gandhi assured that the party’s policy framework would include the caste census as a critical component. He expressed confidence in a united victory for Congress in the upcoming Haryana elections scheduled for October 5, with results to be announced on October 8.
Meanwhile, the BJP criticized Gandhi’s choice to campaign in Assandh, where Congress candidate Shamsher Singh Gogi has been controversial for his statements about personal gain if elected. BJP highlighted this issue on social media, alleging that Gogi intends to "loot Haryana" if the Congress comes to power.
