Empowering Devotion: Maharashtra Govt Launches Mukhyamantri Warkari Mahamandal to Support Kirtankars & Warkaris
Maharashtra to Establish Mukhyamantri Warkari Mahamandal for Pilgrims and Kirtankars
The Maharashtra government has announced the formation of the Mukhyamantri Warkari Mahamandal aimed at supporting the Warkari community and Kirtankars in the state. This decision, unveiled by the Social Justice Department, seeks to enhance the facilities and welfare offered to the pilgrims. The headquarters for this newly established corporation will be located in Pandharpur, a significant pilgrimage site.
Each year, millions of Warkaris, ardent followers of Lord Vithoba from diverse social strata including peasants, laborers, and farmers, embark on a traditional pilgrimage to Pandharpur. This centuries-old journey, a significant cultural and religious event, will now receive additional support and resources through the Mukhyamantri Warkari Mahamandal.
The Mahamandal will focus on multiple aspects of the pilgrimage experience. It will work on the development of pilgrimage sites, ensuring that they are well-maintained and accessible. Additionally, the Mahamandal will provide medical assistance, food, and security measures to support the pilgrims’ journey. Insurance coverage, infrastructural enhancements, and other essential facilities and welfare schemes will also be part of its mandate, ensuring a secure and fulfilling pilgrimage for all.
This initiative is set to elevate the pilgrimage experience, prioritizing the well-being and safety of the Warkaris, and preserving this vital cultural tradition.
