Priyanka Gandhi Criticizes Centre After CRPF Jawan’s Death in Manipur
After the tragic killing of a CRPF jawan in Manipur, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has strongly criticized the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning their responsiveness to the ongoing violence in the state.
On Sunday, Priyanka Gandhi expressed her sorrow over the death of the soldier in a Hindi post on X, formerly known as Twitter. She extended her condolences, stating, "The news of the martyrdom of a soldier in the attack on a CRPF convoy in Manipur is extremely saddening. May God grant peace to the departed soul. Deepest condolences to the bereaved family."
Highlighting the continuous violence since May 3 of last year, Priyanka Gandhi remarked, "A state has completely fallen apart. After all, when will the central government and the Prime Minister wake up from their sleep?"
The attack occurred in Mongbung village, Jiribam district, early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of 43-year-old Ajay Kumar Jha from Bihar. The assailants, suspected militants, also injured a police officer who has been hospitalized and is currently in stable condition.
Manipur has been experiencing escalating violence, with the attack on the CRPF convoy adding to the unrest. In related developments, the Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) suspended its aid to displaced persons in Jiribam amidst the growing turbulence.
