Assam Governor’s Historic Visit to Indo-Bangladesh Border Sparks Hope and Unity
Governor of Assam Surveys Dhubri, Highlights Significance of Bodoland Peace Accord
Dhubri: Governor of Assam, Laxman Prasad Acharya, embarked on an official tour of Dhubri, visiting the international border between India and Bangladesh. During his visit, he inspected the Ram Rai Kuti Border Outpost and assessed the border fencing and pillars at the Indo-Bangladesh border. Accompanied by Dhubri District Commissioner, Dibakar Nath, Governor Acharya received a National Salute and participated in a sapling plantation program. He also engaged with Army Jawans stationed at the border outpost.
In a broader context, Governor Acharya recently inaugurated the second International Day of Peace in Kokrajhar. He emphasized the crucial role of the Peace Accord signed on January 27, 2020, between the Government of India, the Government of Assam, and Bodo group representatives, in establishing lasting peace in Bodoland. Praising the collective efforts of Bodoland’s residents, he honored Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and acknowledged the strides made towards peace and development in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The governor underscored the success of the Bodoland Happiness Mission, launched in 2023, in fostering harmony and sustainable development in BTR. He highlighted the mission’s focus on human development, social cohesion, and reconciliation, stressing its role in empowering citizens to cultivate a culture of peace and constructive dialogue.
Governor Acharya’s visits and statements reflect a continuous commitment to enhancing security, promoting peace, and fostering development in Assam’s border regions and within the Bodo community.
