Assam Boxers Shine at All India Open Talent Hunt Boxing Championship
Guwahati: Assam’s boxers had a strong showing at the All India Open Talent Hunt Boxing Championship held in Guwahati on Saturday. The competition, organized by the Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) in collaboration with the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), saw Assam secure an impressive total of 16 medals.
Gold Medals
Dipanjali Daimari clinched gold in the 48 kg women’s category by defeating Manipur’s Tojim Bhumbati with a score of 5-1. Rimpi Pegu earned Assam’s second gold in the 48 kg youth women’s category by triumphing over Chandigarh’s Kavita with a 4-0 score.
Silver Medals
In the 50 kg category, Bhupali narrowly lost to Haryana’s Neha Gurjar, settling for silver with a 2-3 margin. Elora Borgohain also secured silver after being defeated by Andhra Pradesh’s Sativada in the 81 kg elite women’s finals. Additional silver medals were won by Jesmita Daimari in the 57 kg category, Bidisha Baruah in the 65 kg youth women’s category, Yuvraj Yadav in the 70 kg youth men’s category, and Akash Kachari in the 85 kg men’s division.
Bronze Medals
Assam’s bronze medalists include Sumitra Brahma and Manju Basumatary in the 54 kg category, Monalisa Basumatary in the 57 kg category, Bharati Kumari in the 48 kg category, and Monika Chubba in the 51 kg category. In the elite men’s 86 kg category, Kharananda advanced to the semifinals but had to settle for bronze. Junaid Anan and Ganga Rava also earned bronze medals in the 60 kg and 70 kg categories, respectively.
