Urgent Call to Action: India-UK United Front Key to Tackling Climate Crisis Head-On
The British Deputy High Commission in Chennai, in collaboration with the U.K.’s innovation agency Connected Places Catapult, recently organized a workshop titled “Unlocking the Value Chain of EVs and Micromobility.” The event saw the participation of Oliver Ballhatchet, the British Deputy High Commissioner, who emphasized the U.K.’s dedication to supporting the Tamil Nadu government. He highlighted the significance of UK-India science and innovation partnerships in tackling climate and public health crises.
Funded by Innovate UK, this workshop convened experts from Tamil Nadu’s government, industry sectors, and multilateral agencies to discuss the challenges impeding the widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and micromobility solutions. Key discussions revolved around fostering collaboration between UK-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Indian stakeholders, aiming to advance the transition to net-zero emissions.
Participants delved into strategies to overcome market challenges and establish sustainable partnerships in the EV and micromobility sectors. The event underscored the shared commitment of the UK and Tamil Nadu to innovate and implement environmentally friendly mobility solutions.
