Lokesh Kanagaraj Devastated: Two Months of Grueling Work Lost to Nagarjuna’s Leaked ‘Coolie’ Entry Scene
A leaked video of actor Nagarjuna shooting for director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming Tamil film “Coolie” in Visakhapatnam has prompted the director to issue a public appeal on social media. Kanagaraj urged fans and onlookers not to record and share unauthorized footage from the film set, highlighting that such actions undermine the extensive effort put in by the cast and crew. “Two months of hard work by many people have gone in vain because of one recording. I humbly request everyone not to engage in such practices, as they spoil the overall experience,” Kanagaraj posted on X.
“Coolie,” led by superstar Rajinikanth, is one of the most eagerly awaited Tamil films set for a 2025 release. The film’s team officially welcomed Nagarjuna into the fold on his birthday, August 29, with Kanagaraj expressing his excitement on X: “Kicked to have King @iamnagarjuna sir joining the cast of #Coolie as #Simon.”
The film boasts an ensemble cast including Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Mahendran. There are also rumors suggesting Bollywood actor Aamir Khan might make a cameo appearance.
Produced on a grand scale, “Coolie” is slated for a release in the latter half of next year, although an exact date has yet to be announced. While initially speculated to be a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which features films like “Leo,” “Kaithi 2,” “Vikram 2,” and an unannounced spin-off, Kanagaraj clarified in a recent interview that “Coolie” is a standalone project.
The director’s strong plea to fans underscores the growing concern over on-set leaks, aiming to protect the artistic integrity and viewing experience of upcoming cinema.
