United Nations, Sep 14: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Retno L.P. Marsudi from Indonesia as his special envoy on water. In her new role, Marsudi will represent the UN Secretary-General in global water initiatives and will collaborate with UN-Water and its members. She will support the implementation of the UN System-wide Strategy on Water and Sanitation, aligned with the SDG 6 Global Acceleration Framework.
Marsudi, currently serving as Indonesia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2014, will officially take on her role as the special envoy on water on November 1.
