Heartwarming Visit: Sona’s Journey to Changlang Unites with Singpho Women Organisation’s Urgent Call for Inspirational Teachers
Changlang Hosts Education Minister Sona’s Brainstorming Session on Education Development
CHANGLANG, 13 Sep: Education Minister PD Sona, along with his adviser and Roing MLA Mitchu Mithi and Education Commissioner Amjad Tak, visited Changlang district on an official tour. During his visit, Sona led a comprehensive brainstorming session aimed at the holistic development and modification of the education system. This session saw participation from various community-based organizations and district education officers.
Key issues discussed included the merging of schools, assessment of school infrastructures, teacher training, and student performance. The Singpho Women Organisation (SWO) played a significant role in the session, with its general secretary, Pinna Kitnal Singpho, presenting a five-point memorandum. The memorandum highlighted the urgent need for Singpho language teachers in the area’s schools and called for dedicated funds for Singpho writers’ workshops.
A critical point raised was the severe shortage of subject teachers in higher secondary schools across Changlang, with an immediate demand for posting such teachers to Miao educational block. The memorandum also emphasized the deteriorating condition of the Government Higher Secondary School in Miao, established in 1979, and demanded the construction of a new, multi-storied RCC school building with essential facilities.
The SWO also proposed the establishment of a gurukul model school for the Singpho tribe and addressed the alarming issue of ragging and bullying in educational institutions. Stressing the detrimental impact on students’ mental and emotional health, the memorandum called for comprehensive anti-bullying policies and awareness programs involving students, teachers, and parents.
The event was also attended by notable figures such as Jairampur MLA Laisam Simai, ZPC Khumko Mossang, and district BJP president Roshan Ngemu. The participants shared their optimism for positive changes in the education sector under Minister Sona’s leadership.
