Rajasthan’s Kota City Police have detained three suspects in connection with the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, in which the actor escaped unhurt but his driver sustained bullet injuries, police officials said. The arrests followed Sunday evening’s shooting in the city’s Juhu area, when armed assailants allegedly opened fire at Shroff’s vehicle as he was leaving a local football club.
Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam confirmed the arrests to news agency ANI, saying a police team intercepted the suspects aboard a train passing through Kota as they allegedly attempted to flee. According to initial police disclosures, two of the detained men are residents of Haryana, while the third is from Bihar.
The shooting took place on Sunday evening as Shroff was leaving a sports ground in Juhu after playing a football match. As his vehicle moved through a gathering crowd, multiple motorcycle-borne assailants suddenly approached and opened fire at his car, discharging several rounds from close range. While the actor escaped the attack completely unhurt, the gunfire injured others — his driver suffered a gunshot wound to his arm, and at least two other individuals sustained injuries in the sudden chaos.
Acting on intelligence inputs and in coordination with Mumbai Police, the Kota City Police tracked down the suspects and intercepted the train as it passed through Rajasthan, detaining the three men. The suspects are currently in custody in Kota for preliminary questioning, while a Mumbai Police team is coordinating with local authorities to bring them back to Mumbai under transit remand for further investigation.
Investigators are examining the motive behind the firing, possible links to organised criminal networks and the source of the firearms allegedly used in the attack. Further details about the suspects and their alleged roles in the incident are awaited.
