Zubeen Garg Death Case: 2 Security Officers Get Relief, Stay in Jail
A special court in Guwahati granted bail on Tuesday to two personal security officers of late singer Zubeen Garg in a case involving his property and financial transactions. Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora, however, will remain in custody because proceedings linked to Garg’s death are continuing, pending any bail in that case.
The two officers were arrested in Case No. 24 of 2026 on allegations that they dishonestly misappropriated or converted Garg’s movable property for their own use. The case also includes allegations of criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust. Their respective bail petitions were registered as Petition Nos. 1312 and 1313 of 2026.
During the hearing, their defence challenged the prosecution’s case, arguing that certain financial transactions had been wrongly linked to the alleged misuse of funds associated with Garg. The bail granted on Tuesday applies only to the property-related case, and their release will depend on whether they are required to remain in jail in connection with any other proceedings.
Baishya and Bora are among seven accused whom a special fast-track court has charged in the case linked to Garg’s death. The other accused are Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddhartha Sharma, Amritprabha Mahanta, Sandipan Garg and Shekharjyoti Goswami.
Garg died in Singapore on September 19, 2025, after he reportedly entered the sea during a yacht outing while in the country to attend the North East India Festival.
