ABVP Dominates B Barooah Students’ Union Elections 2024; Independent Candidate Dikson Basumatary Elected President
GUWAHATI: In a decisive outcome after four rounds of counting, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has emerged as the dominant force in the B Barooah Students’ Union Elections 2024, securing nine key positions.
The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) each managed to secure two seats, while two independent candidates also claimed victory. Independent candidate Dikson Basumatary was elected President with a significant lead of 979 votes, marking a pivotal victory outside the main student organizations. Himangshu Malla Bujarbaruah from ABVP clinched the General Secretary position with 747 votes.

- Gymnasium Secretary: Hrishikesh Mallick (Uncontested)
- Boys’ Common Room Secretary: Rishiraj Barman (886 votes)
- Girls’ Common Room Secretary: Dipshikha Roy (786 votes)
