Exciting News: Ranbir Kapoor Takes on Double Role as Lord Ram and Parashuram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, Amitabh Bachchan to Voice Jatayu
Ranbir Kapoor is set to embrace a challenging double role in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological film “Ramayana.” According to an exclusive report by PeepingMoon, Kapoor will play both Lord Ram and Parashuram. The film will delve into their significant confrontation, where Parashuram challenges Lord Ram after he breaks Lord Shiva’s bow, Pinaka. Kapoor’s portrayal of Parashuram is said to be transformative and distinct from his depiction of Lord Ram, ensuring a clear differentiation between the two characters.
Adding to the stellar cast, Amitabh Bachchan has joined the project to voice the divine bird Jatayu, who heroically attempts to save Goddess Sita from Ravana. Although Bachchan’s role is brief, it is vital, and the filmmakers have utilized VFX to scan his eyes, lending a unique authenticity to Jatayu’s representation.
“Ramayana” is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with KGF star Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, with an impressive budget of $100 million. Malhotra, founder of the acclaimed VFX company DNEG, has enlisted top-tier global talent to ensure a visually grand cinematic experience. Director Nitesh Tiwari has invested over five years in pre-production, meticulously planning the film, which will unfold in two parts. The first part will cover the early lives of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, their marriage, and their 14-year exile, whereas the second part will climax with the epic battle between Lord Ram and Ravana.
The star-studded cast includes Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Laxman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha. Also featuring are Arun Govil as Dashrath, Kunal Kapoor as Indra Dev, Harman Baweja as Vibhishan, and Sonia Balani as Urmila. Filming kicked off in April and is expected to conclude by November, with a worldwide release anticipated in 2026.
