Urgent Alert: Dimapur Police Intensify Crackdown to Combat Illegal Immigration in Nagaland
In response to escalating concerns over illegal immigration, Dimapur Police have ramped up their monitoring at major entry points, notably Dimapur railway station. These stringent measures, initiated on September 3, aim to halt the influx of suspected illegal immigrants into Nagaland.
Law enforcement officers are rigorously inspecting the identity documents of passengers arriving by train, including Aadhar and voter ID cards. This enhanced scrutiny extends to gathering detailed information from over 1,000 individuals entering Dimapur each day. Reports suggest that many of these individuals are en route to Assams’s Lahorijan and Golaghat regions.
Commissioner of Police Kevithuto Sophie affirmed the round-the-clock checks at various inter-state entry points. He appealed to the public and civil society to report any suspicious activity promptly, highlighting the availability of hotlines designed for rapid response against illegal immigration.
These actions underscore a concerted effort by the Dimapur Police to ensure thorough vetting and control over entry into Nagaland, reflecting growing vigilance and proactive measures in addressing illegal immigration concerns.
