Nagaland-based guitarist and composer Arenlong has been named an official endorsed artist by Swedish maker Strandberg Guitars, formalising a relationship that began after he won the Strandberg Guitar Contest in India in 2020. The endorsement, announced from Kohima, brings Arenlong onto Strandberg’s global artist roster and recognises his work in contemporary progressive guitar music.
Founded by luthier Ola Strandberg in 2012, Strandberg Guitars is known for its ergonomic, headless designs and strong presence in progressive rock, metal and fusion scenes. The company’s artist list includes internationally recognised players such as Plini, Richard Henshall, Per Nilsson and Jake Bowen.
Arenlong is known for blending progressive rock and metal with melodic, technically driven guitar work. He released his debut EP, Willow, in 2022, which showcased both his compositional voice and instrumental technique. He is also part of the NAMMA Music Artist Roster and collaborated with Abhay Nayampally, J-Rod Sullivan and producer Sandeep Chowta on the EP Treekam.
Over the years Arenlong has collected several notable awards, including the Boss Guitar Maestro Contest (2015), the National Guitar Solo Contest (2014), and Best Guitarist at the Hornbill International Rock Contest (2013). In 2020 he also won an international online guitar competition hosted by UK guitarist Jack Gardiner.
Arenlong credited Mumbai-based retailer The Stockist with helping advance his relationship with Strandberg; the store stocks premium brands such as Strandberg, Taylor, Suhr and Mayones and has worked to improve Indian musicians’ access to high-end instruments. The retailer’s support, he said, helped bring the partnership to fruition.
In addition to Strandberg, Arenlong holds endorsements from Hotone Audio and SIT Strings. The new endorsement places the Nagaland guitarist among a growing group of Indian musicians gaining recognition from leading international music-equipment brands, widening his visibility both in India and abroad.
