Ajit Doval Embarks on Crucial Mission to Moscow for Vital Peace Talks Amidst Ukraine Crisis: Exclusive Report
National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval is set to embark on a two-day visit to Moscow next week, centered on discussions about the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Scheduled for September 10-11, Doval’s itinerary includes engagement with Russian President Vladimir Putin to deliberate on peace efforts. Doval will also participate in the BRICS-NSA meeting during his Moscow stay, as reported by India Today.
The BRICS group is an informal alliance of ten nations: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia. The last BRICS-NSA meeting took place in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2023, where Doval represented India.
Doval’s impending trip follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visits to both Russia and Ukraine within the last two months. During these visits, Modi met with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, underscoring India’s active involvement in seeking a peaceful resolution.
Additionally, Doval is slated to hold bilateral discussions with his Russian and Chinese counterparts, building on topics from the July summit in Moscow. These meetings occur in the context of Modi’s phone call with Putin on August 27, during which Modi updated Putin on his visit to Kiev and reaffirmed India’s commitment to fostering a political and diplomatic resolution in Ukraine.
During the call, the leaders decided that NSA Doval would travel to Moscow for further peace talks, as per NDTV sources. No additional details about the visit have been disclosed at this time.
Modi has consistently emphasized India’s stance on the Ukraine conflict, asserting that the nation favors peace rather than neutrality. Putin has recognized India as one of the three countries with which Russia maintains dialogue regarding the Ukraine situation.
