By TC News Desk
A nine-member delegation of Tripura journalists will attend the All India Media Conference 2026, organised by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on July 17, 2026, at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), Sector-13, Dwarka, New Delhi. The delegation’s participation aims to strengthen the media’s role in the electoral process and to deepen reporters’ understanding of election management and emerging election technologies.
The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura, nominated representatives from newspapers, television channels and news agencies to the national-level conference. The move reflects the state administration’s intent to engage media professionals in capacity-building initiatives on election-related reporting.
The journalists representing Tripura are Pranab Sarkar (Editor, Headlines Tripura); Anal Roy Chowdhury (Editor, Pratibadi Kalam); Sujit De (Journalist, Dainik Sangbad); Dr. Biswendu Bhattacharjee (Principal Correspondent, UNI); Abhijit Ghosh (Journalist, Janatar Mashal); Abhishek Dey (Executive Editor, Syandan Patrika); Abhijit Nath (Journalist, Tripura Observer); Achintya Bhuiya (Editor, Times 24); and Ranjit Debbarma (Editor, Chini Khorang).
According to the published schedule, participants will report at 9:00 AM for registration, followed by an inaugural session. Senior Election Commission officials will present on themes including “Connecting Stakeholders, Strengthening Democracy: The Role of Media in Elections,” the ECINET digital platform, constitutional and legal provisions governing elections, and the preparation of electoral rolls as well as polling and counting procedures.
The programme also features practical demonstrations of the electoral process, interactive group sessions and a parallel quiz designed to enhance participants’ practical knowledge of election management. In the afternoon, delegates will hear a special address from the Election Commissioners and engage in an extended question-and-answer session.
The day-long conference will close with a vote of thanks and a gala dinner. Organisers expect the event to equip media professionals nationwide with a clearer grasp of India’s electoral system, the growing role of technology in election administration, and the media’s responsibility to ensure transparent, informed and democratic electoral coverage. Tripura’s delegation, officials say, signals the state’s active participation in national efforts to promote responsible election reporting.
