Empowering Futures: Assam’s Groundbreaking Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships for SC and OBC Students
The Assam government has launched the application process for its Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarship schemes for the 2024-25 academic year, aimed at uplifting marginalized communities through education. These scholarships are specifically designed for students from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) backgrounds, contributing to the broader goal of reducing financial barriers and promoting academic success across the state.
Students enrolled in government and government-aided schools, as well as those pursuing higher education in technical and medical fields, are eligible to apply via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at www.scholarships.gov.in. The user-friendly portal streamlines the application process for both Pre-Matric and Post-Matric scholarships.
To qualify, students must have a valid SC or OBC caste certificate from the District Commissioner’s office and a parental income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakhs per year, certified by the local Circle Officer. Applicants must also register on the NSP OTR app, available on the Google Play Store, using Aadhaar and mobile number authentication. For minors, parents’ Aadhaar details can be used for verification. Additionally, students need to have an Aadhaar-linked bank account to receive scholarship funds via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The application window for Pre-Matric Scholarships (for students in Classes IX & X) runs from July 23 to September 30, 2024, with institute verification required by October 15, 2024. For Post-Matric Scholarships, applications remain open until October 31, 2024, with institute verification needed by the end of the month.
