Virat Kohli Cleared for England ODIs — Fit After Assessment
New Delhi: Virat Kohli has cleared his fitness assessment at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and is now available for selection ahead of India’s three-match ODI series against England in July.
The veteran batter had been named in India’s squad on a fitness-dependent basis after recovering from a hamstring injury that ruled him out of the recent ODI against Afghanistan. Kohli missed several matches following an injury sustained during the IPL, but reports indicated his rehabilitation was progressing well before the formal evaluation confirmed his readiness.
Kohli’s return bolsters an experienced Indian batting unit led by captain Shubman Gill and featuring Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. At 37, Kohli remains one of India’s most influential one-day players and is expected to play a central role on the England tour.
India’s three ODIs are scheduled in July at Edgbaston, Sophia Gardens and Lord’s. Kohli’s availability provides a timely boost as the visitors prepare to face one of the world’s strongest white-ball sides on English pitches.
