Morigaon Congress Protests NEET Paper Leak, Soaring Prices
The Morigaon District Congress Committee held a protest in Morigaon town on Monday, condemning what it called the alleged NEET question paper leak and raising concerns over rising prices of essential commodities, unemployment, and government policies it described as anti-people. District Congress leaders and more than fifty party workers carried banners and raised slogans as they voiced grievances affecting students, youth and the wider public.
Party leaders accused the government of repeatedly failing to prevent question paper leaks in major competitive examinations, including NEET, and said such incidents have led to cancellations that cause severe mental stress and uncertainty among students. They demanded stronger safeguards to protect the integrity of exams and the future prospects of aspirants.
The Congress also criticised the slow pace of recruitment, arguing that prolonged delays in appointments jeopardise the futures of lakhs of educated youths in the state and across the country. Leaders said the government had not provided a permanent or effective solution to growing unemployment and urged faster, transparent hiring processes.
Protesters highlighted sharp increases in the cost of daily essentials, citing rising prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, life‑saving medicines and other necessities. They accused the government of failing to control inflation or deliver meaningful relief to ordinary citizens struggling with higher living costs.
Addressing the gathering, district Congress leaders said their democratic struggle against what they termed the destruction of the education system, mounting unemployment and unprecedented price hikes would continue until their demands were addressed.
The programme was attended by Lahorighat MLA Dr. Asif Mohammad Nazar, along with several senior leaders, office‑bearers and workers of the Morigaon District Congress Committee.
