Despite tightened measures after a recent question-paper leak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has come under fresh criticism after an applicant for the Re-NEET UG 2026 exam from Nagpur was mistakenly assigned an exam centre in Abu Dhabi. Abdullah Mohammad Talib discovered the error after downloading his admit card from the NTA’s official website; the card listed an Indian school in Abu Dhabi as his test centre even though he had applied for a centre within India.
The error became public when a screenshot of Talib’s Re-NEET 2026 admit card went viral, prompting scrutiny from candidates and the agency. Talib, who does not hold a passport, said travelling abroad to sit the exam would be virtually impossible, heightening the practical consequences of the misassignment.
On being notified, NTA officials acknowledged the mistake, describing it as a technical glitch. The agency has assured the candidate’s family that corrective steps will be taken and that a revised admit card showing the correct Indian test centre will be issued. According to a family source, they received an email from the NTA confirming that the error would be rectified by Saturday evening, June 20, 2026.
The NTA has advised all candidates to immediately report any discrepancies in personal details, exam centres or other critical information. Re-NEET UG 2026 is scheduled to be held in pen-and-paper mode on June 21, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM; candidates are required to bring their admit cards and other prescribed documents to the examination centre.
The incident underscores continued concerns over administrative lapses even as authorities claim to have reinforced safeguards. The NTA’s prompt acknowledgement and promise of corrections may reassure affected candidates, but the timing-just a day before the exam-highlights the narrow window for resolving errors that could prevent students from appearing for a high-stakes national test.
