Major Manipur Crackdown: 10 KCP & RPF/PLA Cadres Arrested
Imphal — Security forces and Manipur Police arrested ten cadres of two proscribed outfits, the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), during coordinated anti‑insurgency operations across valley districts on Thursday, police said. Reported by Bit Irom.
Police said the detained cadres are alleged to have been involved in extortion, illegal arms supply and the planting of hand grenades at various locations.
In the first operation, four active members of the KCP (MFL) were arrested from Kakching district: Moirangthem Tondomba Singh alias Teme (44) of Arong Khunou Mayai Leikai; Wahengbam Inao Singh alias Jack (46) of Kakching Irum Mapal; Nongmaithem David Meitei (42) of Loushi Ching Kakpham; and Maibam Lokendro Singh (38) of Wabagai Thambal Chingya.
In a separate sweep, four cadres of the KCP (PWG), all residents of Imphal East district, were taken into custody: Huidrom Palinba Singh alias Nanao (19) of Kongba Ucheckon; Pebam Roshan Singh (18) of Singjamei Pebiya Pundit Leikai; Nameirakpam Jitson Meitei (19) of Bashikhong Mamang Leikai; and Maimom Lemba Meitei (28) of Ningomthong Kitna Panung.
Another KCP (PWG) cadre, Hemam Laingam Meitei alias Ngamba (33) of Moirang Khoiru Mayai Leirak in Bishnupur district, was arrested from his locality under Moirang Police Station.
Security forces also apprehended Arambam Sanayaima Meitei alias Ali (48), an active cadre of the Revolutionary People’s Front — the political wing of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA). He was arrested from Kangla Sangomshang Awang Leikai under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district.
Police said further investigation is underway.
