CM Reviews Sikkim Government Redevelopment Plans: Urgent Push
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, inspected the New Sikkim House in New Delhi and reviewed plans to redevelop and renovate key Sikkim government properties in the national capital, the Chief Minister’s Office said in a press release. The visit focused on upgrading facilities that serve Sikkim’s residents and visitors to New Delhi and on setting a roadmap for timely execution of the projects.
Built in 1988, New Sikkim House has served the state for nearly four decades. The Chief Minister proposed a comprehensive redevelopment plan to meet contemporary needs, including additional accommodation, improved parking, upgraded amenities and strengthened infrastructure to enhance comfort and convenience for visitors from Sikkim.
Mr. Tamang-Golay also reviewed proposals to restore the Old Sikkim House, stressing that any renovation should preserve the building’s heritage value, architectural character and cultural identity while integrating necessary modern facilities.
Discussions during the visit covered renovation and upgradation plans for Sewa Bhawan, the X-13 property in Hauz Khas, and DKK Bhawan as part of a broader initiative to modernize Sikkim’s infrastructure in New Delhi. The Chief Minister later met Buildings and Housing Minister Bhim Hang Limboo and senior departmental officials to deliberate the projects and chart a roadmap for their efficient implementation, the CMO statement said. The planned works aim to strengthen Sikkim’s institutional presence in the capital while balancing modernization with heritage conservation.
