Assam CM Sarma Urges IAS Officers to Accelerate Viksit Assam Vision
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with more than 100 IAS officers of the state to outline his vision for a “Viksit Assam”, urging greater collaboration, coordination and a shared sense of purpose across government departments. He called on the bureaucracy to build on recent gains and work collectively to position Assam as a national leader in key sectors, developmental indicators and governance parameters.
Sarma asked officers to sustain the “remarkable achievements” Assam has recorded in recent years and to ensure that every policy, reform and project contributes to the state’s economic and developmental role within India. He stressed that measurable outcomes must follow intent, and that coordinated action across departments is essential to scale progress.
The Chief Minister encouraged open, fearless exchange of ideas, telling officers to speak their minds while remaining committed to the highest standards of probity, integrity, transparency and humility in public service. He underlined that constructive feedback and frank discussion are critical to effective policy design and implementation.
Sarma emphasized that a committed, accountable and results-oriented bureaucracy is central to achieving Assam’s long-term development goals. He linked bureaucratic responsibility directly to accelerating the state’s transformation into a leading state in the country.
The interaction places renewed focus on governance reforms and administrative cohesion as the state pursues faster economic growth, improved public services and stronger development outcomes. If implemented, the Chief Minister’s directives could shape priorities across departments and affect service delivery experienced by citizens.
