A two-day educational and career-focused event, “EduConnect: Connecting Education to Opportunities,” began in Dimapur on Friday, bringing together educational institutions, industry experts, policymakers and students to strengthen links between education, skill development and employment for Nagaland’s youth.
Abu Metha, chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and adviser to the chief minister, described the initiative as a significant step towards creating meaningful academic and professional pathways for students. He said the programme seeks to connect learners with practical opportunities that can translate into sustainable careers.
Vineet Kumar, additional secretary, finance department and IDAN, said EduConnect aims to open a “window of opportunities” by exposing students to a wide range of career paths and educational options available across India. He added that the organisers designed the event to be inclusive, arranging live streaming to all 16 districts of Nagaland through the offices of the deputy commissioners so students who could not attend in person could still participate.
Akash Baishya, founder of Cryptex Solo, expressed hope that EduConnect 2026 would be a valuable and meaningful experience for every student in attendance.
A key development at the event was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Atria Institute of Technology and IDAN. The MoU outlines collaboration in academic cooperation, skill development initiatives, student engagement programmes and other measures to support capacity building and educational advancement for students from Nagaland.
Under the agreement, Atria–IT scholarships will be offered through IDAN as part of the “Future Achievers Scholarship Programme,” providing further support for students seeking higher education and professional training.
