NTA Announces NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam on June 21 After Cancellation
The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on May 15 that the re‑examination for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET‑UG) 2026 will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026, a decision the agency said has been taken with the approval of the Government of India and shared via its official X handle.
“National Testing Agency has decided to conduct the re‑examination of NEET (UG) 2026 on Sunday, 21 June 2026,” the agency said in its statement.
The re‑exam follows the cancellation of the earlier NEET‑UG 2026 session amid allegations of a large‑scale paper leak and other irregularities, which left lakhs of medical aspirants across the country uncertain about their admission prospects.
The cancellation prompted widespread protests and renewed calls for accountability, with several student organisations and civil society groups demanding stricter security protocols and systemic reforms to safeguard future examinations.
In its advisory, the NTA urged candidates and parents to rely only on official communication channels for authentic updates and examination information, and cautioned against rumours and misinformation circulating on social media.
Candidates seeking clarification were directed to contact the agency via the helpline numbers 011‑40759000 and 011‑69227700; the agency’s statement did not specify an email address.
NEET‑UG is India’s largest undergraduate medical entrance examination and is the gateway to MBBS, BDS and other medical courses; this year’s exam had seen participation from over 22 lakh candidates nationwide.
