The 35th Battalion of Assam Rifles was presented with the Governor of Tripura Citation 2026 at an investiture ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Agartala in recognition of its service in maintaining peace, bolstering security and providing humanitarian assistance across the state. The citation honours the unit’s sustained operational and civic contributions since its deployment to Agartala in September 2024.
Deployed in September 2024, the battalion has been involved in a range of security and welfare tasks and has been commended for its discipline and effective execution. A major area of focus has been anti-narcotics work under the “Nasha Mukt North East” initiative, where personnel have taken part in operations to disrupt drug trafficking networks, curb illegal cultivation and support enforcement agencies in related investigations.
Alongside anti-drug efforts, the unit has conducted routine area-dominance patrols and set up mobile vehicle checkpoints to deter crime and improve situational awareness. These measures have been carried out in coordination with the civil administration, state police and intelligence agencies to strengthen Tripura’s overall security framework.
The battalion also responded during severe floods, conducting rescue missions, evacuating stranded residents and distributing essential relief supplies in challenging conditions. Its rapid response helped stabilise several affected localities and restore basic services.
Beyond security duties, the unit has run medical camps, awareness programmes, educational activities and community welfare drives to build local trust and improve civil-military cooperation. The government and people of Tripura have publicly appreciated the battalion’s wide-ranging service, culminating in the Governor’s Citation for 2026.
