India demands accountability from China, Pakistan over Op Sindoor
New Delhi, May 12, 2026 — India on Tuesday said Chinese media reports that Beijing provided technical support to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor confirm what was already known. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal made the remark at a press briefing while responding to questions about recent Chinese official media admissions concerning the May 2025 operation, which New Delhi says was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attacks.
“We have seen these reports that corroborate what was known earlier,” Jaiswal said, describing Operation Sindoor as “a precise, targeted and calibrated response to the terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, aimed at destroying state‑sponsored terrorist infrastructure operating out of Pakistan and at its behest.” He emphasised that the operation’s intent was limited to striking terrorist infrastructure.
Jaiswal also urged nations that consider themselves responsible to reflect on the consequences of supporting efforts to shield terrorist infrastructure. “It is for nations who consider themselves responsible to reflect whether supporting attempts to protect terrorist infrastructure affects their reputation and standing,” he added.
Last week, China — for the first time — acknowledged providing on‑site technical support to Pakistan during the four‑day conflict between the two countries. China’s state broadcaster CCTV on May 7 aired an interview with Zhang Heng of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China’s (AVIC) Chengdu Aircraft Design and Research Institute, and Hong Kong‑based South China Morning Post reported that Zhang said he had given technical assistance to Pakistan during the fighting.
Pakistan’s air force operates Chinese‑made J‑10CE jets produced by an AVIC subsidiary, a detail cited in reports on the disclosed support. (PTI)
