Itanagar Police have appealed to the public to help identify an unidentified male body recovered from a jungle area near RP Gate under the 4th IRBn, Jollang in Itanagar. The body was found on May 9 and an unidentified-dead (UD) case — Itanagar PS UD Case No. 07/2026 — was registered after information was received about a person found hanging in the area.
Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel reached the site, recovered the body in a decomposed condition and carried out an inquest in the presence of an Executive Magistrate. The case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which governs police enquiry and reporting in cases of suicide or suspicious deaths. (kanoongpt.in)
Authorities believe the deceased is a non-tribal male last seen wearing a black T‑shirt and blue jeans. Because of decomposition, the exact age could not be determined; police estimate his height at between 5.5 feet and 5.7 feet. The body has been preserved at RKM Hospital Mortuary pending identification and further legal procedures.
Itanagar Police have urged anyone with information about the identity of the deceased, or any missing person matching this description, to contact Itanagar Police Station or the investigating officer immediately. Nearby police stations, village authorities and relatives of missing persons have also been asked to cooperate in the identification process.
Those with credible information are requested to come forward to assist the investigation so that the deceased can be identified and the matter processed according to law.
