Breaking: Court to Rule on Siddharth Sharma’s Bail Plea Today
The fast-track court in Guwahati is scheduled to rule on Saturday, May 2, 2026, on the bail plea of Siddharth Sharma, a former manager of Assam singer Zubeen Garg, who has been charged in connection with the singer’s death that occurred last year during a yacht party in Singapore. The decision follows detailed arguments heard by Judge Sharmila Bhuyan on April 28, 2026, when the court reserved its order.
During the April 28 hearing, Sharma’s defence told the court that his role was limited to managing Garg’s professional engagements and that he had no responsibility for the singer’s personal security. Defence counsel said Sharma’s duties were confined to arranging events and handling work-related schedules, and argued he could not be held accountable for Garg’s safety.
The prosecution opposed the bail application, rejecting the defence’s characterization of Sharma’s role and urging the court to deny release. The court has yet to announce its decision.
Separately, the bail plea of another accused, Shyamkanu Mahanta, was refused by the same court on April 30, 2026. The hearings and rulings are part of the ongoing legal proceedings linked to the high-profile investigation into Garg’s death.
