Keri G Momin stole the spotlight in the 5th Meghalaya State League on April 25, scoring an extraordinary seven goals as A’chik SCO Rongjeng routed Balmanduri FC 9-0 in Group G at Williamnagar. The performance — the highest individual tally in a single match this season — came as ASCOR ran riot and put early pressure on the group standings.

Keri opened his account for MSL 5 with a flurry of strikes at 18’, 20’ and 24’, added a fourth early in the second half (48’) and completed his haul with goals at 71’, 81’ and 84’. Cherryan G Momin (58’) and Junjun N Marak (90’) supplied ASCOR’s other two goals to round off the emphatic win.

Elsewhere, Seng Samla Umdang Pyllun produced a dramatic 4-3 comeback over Mawten SC in Mawkyrwat after falling behind twice. Bishalboklang Rongrin struck in the 29th and 71st minutes and Rangkynsaistar Mawsor scored twice (56’, 67’) to secure the win; Mawten’s goals came from Wellberjune Lyngdoh (16’), Kynshewbor Pyngrope (54’) and Oversharp Iawphniaw (85’). Rangkynsaistar has now scored in each of Umdang Pyllun’s three matches so far.

Amlarem SC overturned an early deficit to beat Lamin XI SCC 4-2 in Amlarem. Sanu Sumer put Lamin XI ahead in the 5th minute, Wantiwjune Buam equalised just before half-time (32’), and although Genial Lamin restored the lead at 46’, Amlarem hit back with a flurry — Martial Nongrum and Iaid Da Kyrmen Jungai (both 65’) and Wantiwjune again (77’) sealed the victory.

At Shillong’s MFA Ground, Mawphu SC dominated Mulang SC Nongbah 4-0. Owenderson Nongrud scored in the second minute to register the new fastest goal of MSL 5, and teammates Steven Kynta (42’), Ferenstar Kharkongor (45’) and Archeststar Malngiang (73’) added further strikes. In Wahiajer, Lumphyrnai Sohphoh FC beat Iatyllilang Lumsehkot CSC 4-0 as Rio Marboh completed a hat-trick (9’, 70’, 90’+5) and Deibanskhem Kharsati added the other goal (32’).

Khliehriat produced tighter contests: Thangskai Tiger SC edged Jalaphet Moochut Pyrdung 1-0 thanks to Michael Siangshai’s 26th-minute winner, scored two minutes after he received a yellow card. Khliehriat remains one of the lowest-scoring venues with just 10 goals across six games. In Mairang, Mishon SSCC recovered from two straight defeats to beat Lawbah SC 2-0 with late goals from Pyndapboklang L Lyngkhoi (74’) and Rikyrshan Warjri (86’).

Friday’s fixtures marked the halfway point in six of the eight groups; the second leg of group matches is scheduled to begin on Monday, except in Wahiajer and Williamnagar where first-leg fixtures are still being completed. With the league reaching a crucial stage, the latest round has intensified the scramble for qualification as teams seek momentum heading into the return fixtures.
