A primary school headmaster in Abhayapuri, Bongaigaon district, has been accused of assaulting a Class IV pupil, leaving the child injured and requiring hospital treatment. The incident allegedly occurred at Lalmati Ganeshpur Kathalguri Primary School and involves headmaster Nirmaljyoti Nath and student Sahajul Islam. Local residents and the boy’s family say the assault followed an argument over a classroom window that the child had not closed.
According to relatives and neighbours, Sahajul sustained injuries to his ear after being struck by the headmaster. The student reportedly told journalists that bleeding came from his ear after the incident. He was taken to Abhayapuri State Hospital for treatment via the 108 emergency ambulance service.
News of the assault has sparked anger among parents and community members, who are demanding strict action against the accused teacher and a transparent investigation. Guardians said they were alarmed that such violence could occur inside a primary school and called for accountability to ensure student safety.
