Chennai Weather Alert: Delightful Rainfall Showers the City, Causes Train Cancellations | WATCH Captivating Video
Several parts of Chennai experienced light rainfall early this morning at around 4:34 am. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast showers with possible thunderstorms for the city throughout the day. Chennai’s maximum temperature is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius, while the average temperature is likely to hover around 28 degrees. The Air Quality Index (AQI) currently stands at a ‘PM10 28,’ which falls under the ‘Satisfactory’ category as per the pollution board.
In response to the adverse weather conditions, the IMD issued a yellow alert for Chennai and the entire state of Tamil Nadu on September 2, warning of potential thunderstorms and lightning. This alert follows heavy rains that have already led to water-logging and traffic disruptions across the city.
The weather forecast has also compelled the cancellation of several train services. Notably, Train No. 12655, Ahmedabad-Dr MGR Chennai Central Navjeevan Express, and Train No. 12842, Dr MGR Chennai Central-Shalimar Coromandel Express, scheduled to depart today at 11:25 pm and 3:20 pm respectively, have been canceled. Additionally, the Chennai Central-Chhapra Ganga Kaveri Express was canceled on September 2.
Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
