
Midnight Gunfire Targets ULFA-I Chief Paresh Baruah’s Brother in Assam
Unidentified gunmen opened fire late Sunday night at the home of a relative of Paresh Baruah, the commander-in-chief of the banned outfit ULFA (Independent), in a village in Tinsukia district, Assam, triggering panic in the locality. According to sources, the incident occurred around midnight when at least two individuals fired multiple rounds at the house of Baruah’s younger brother, Mission Baruah. No casualties have been reported.
Witnesses and local residents said the assailants fled the scene immediately after the firing, leaving the area in alarm. Police reached the location soon after and cordoned off the vicinity as investigators collected evidence and questioned residents.
Authorities have launched a probe into the attack and intensified security measures in and around the village to trace those responsible. Officials have not yet released details about possible motives or whether any arrests have been made.
