Political Parties Mourn Asha Bhosle: Heartfelt Tributes
The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) have expressed deep grief at the death of Dadasaheb Phalke Awardee Asha Bhosle, calling her passing a profound loss to Indian music and cinema. Both parties paid tribute to her extraordinary career, noting the wide cultural impact of her work across the country and beyond.
The Assam BJP said her demise cast a “deep pall of sorrow” across the nation, underscoring the scale of public mourning. The party highlighted Bhosle’s decades-long contribution to Indian music and her role as a cultural icon whose songs accompanied multiple generations.
BJP leaders pointed out that Asha Bhosle recorded thousands of songs in more than 20 Indian and foreign languages — an output the party described as a rare cultural treasure. They called her one of the most recorded artists in the history of world music and termed her passing an irreparable loss to both the Indian film industry and the global music fraternity.
AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi remembered Bhosle as a timeless musical genius whose voice transcended generations. He emphasized her special bond with Assam, noting she lent her voice to several Assamese songs that have become enduring parts of the state’s cultural heritage.
Gogoi also recalled Bhosle’s celebrated collaborations with legendary Assamese musician Bhupen Hazarika, saying those partnerships enriched both music and cinema in lasting ways. These works, he added, remain valuable cultural assets for Assam and for Indian music more broadly.
All three parties extended heartfelt condolences to Asha Bhosle’s family and admirers, affirming that her artistic legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
