Phenomenal ‘Minions 3’ Set for a Joyous June 2027 Release Following ‘Despicable Me 4’ Triumph
Following the immense success of ‘Despicable Me 4’, Illumination and Universal Pictures have announced the upcoming release of ‘Minions 3’, set to debut in theaters on June 30, 2027. Brian Lynch, who has previously worked on the ‘Minions’ and ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ series, will pen the screenplay, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be directed by Pierre Coffin, the experienced director known for the ‘Despicable Me’ and ‘Minions’ franchises, who will also continue to voice the identifiable Minions.
The production will be overseen by Illumination’s founder and CEO, Chris Meledandri, along with Bill Ryan, who has experience as an executive producer from ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie.’
The ‘Minions’, first introduced more than a decade ago, have solidified their status as animation icons, significantly contributing to Illumination’s success. Collectively, the ‘Despicable Me’ and ‘Minions’ movies have grossed nearly USD 5 billion globally, underscoring their widespread popularity.
The original ‘Minions’ film, released in 2015, continues to hold its place as one of the highest-grossing animated movies of all time. Its follow-ups, ‘Despicable Me 2’ and ‘Despicable Me 3’, each crossed the USD 1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, further demonstrating the franchise’s enduring appeal.
More recently, ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ set new records with a groundbreaking opening weekend over the July Fourth holiday. This year, ‘Despicable Me 4’ followed suit with an impressive USD 230 million worldwide debut, affirming the franchise’s robust presence in the animation industry.
