Shocking Drug Bust in Assam: Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 30 Crore Seized in Karimganj – 3 Arrested in Major Operation
In a significant operation against drug trafficking, Assam police have apprehended three notorious drug peddlers and seized an astounding one lakh Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 30 crore. The bust took place in the Karimganj district on Sunday.
The meticulously planned and executed operation was led by Karimganj District Superintendent Partha Pratim Das. Within an hour, law enforcement officers intercepted a Creta vehicle, bearing the registration number AS 01 DL 1510, on National Highway 6 in Badarpur. Upon inspection, police discovered the contraband hidden within a secret compartment of the vehicle.
The arrested individuals—Ashraf Ali, Abdul Hannan, and Pradeep Das—all residents of Katigorah in the neighboring Cachar district, were immediately taken into custody. Authorities reported that the Yaba tablets were being trafficked from Mizoram, with the final destination set for Patharkandi in Assam.
As the investigation progresses, the suspects are being detained at Badarpur Police Station. Authorities are intensifying their efforts to uncover the full extent of this drug trafficking network and identify additional individuals involved in the illicit trade.
This breakthrough highlights Assam police’s ongoing commitment to tackling drug trafficking in the region and serves as a stern warning to those involved in such activities.
