Nitin Nabin: NDA Delivered Development, Safeguarded Assam
A BJP delegation led by National President Nitin Nabin and State President Dilip Saikia campaigned across Barak Valley on Saturday, pitching development as the central plank to win votes at rallies in Lakhipur and Ramakrishna Nagar. Nabin said the party was on course for a “comfortable hat-trick,” adding that, for the first time since independence, people in Assam had seen what real development and good governance mean.
Saikia, visibly confident after a public meeting in Lakhipur, dismissed the opposition’s presence on the ground and predicted a decisive victory for the ruling alliance. “BJP and its partners will create history this time with the maximum number of seats and in the Barak Valley with a clean sweep of all the 13 seats,” he told mediapersons; Lakhipur’s public meeting featured Minister Kaushik Rai, the party’s candidate there.
Nabin expanded on the party’s development narrative, crediting the Narendra Modi government with putting the nation on a development path and saying the Northeast was undergoing a rapid transformation from a lagging region into a vibrant hub. He used the rallies to underscore infrastructure and governance gains as reasons for voters to back BJP candidates.
The visits formed part of an intensive campaign push in the valley, with leaders aiming to translate the development message into electoral support. Both leaders sought to position BJP’s record as the main contrast with opposition parties, framing the election as a referendum on progress and governance.
If the party’s predictions hold in the Barak Valley, a strong showing across the 13 seats would reinforce its broader projection of electoral gains in the state.
