Google Partners with Tamil Nadu to Propel AI Innovation

Google signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to advance AI technology and innovation in the state. The agreement aims to skill two million youths in AI through the "Naan Mudhalvan" initiative, support startups, and enable micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and the rural economy with advanced technology. This partnership also includes local manufacturing of Pixel 8 phones and drones.

The MoU was exchanged at Google’s Mountain View office in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, and key Google executives. Under this agreement, Google will collaborate with Guidance, the state’s nodal agency for investment promotion, to build a robust AI ecosystem.

Google’s vice president, Amit Zavery, expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting the shared commitment to fostering inclusive growth through AI. The initiative will also see Google supporting Tamil Nadu’s startup ecosystem with mentorship, networking, and AI-focused events. Additionally, MSMEs will benefit from collaborations aimed at leveraging Google Cloud’s AI technologies to streamline operations and promote innovation.
