Meghalaya BSF Triumphantly Apprehends Notorious Bangladeshi Smuggler Near East Khasi Hills Border
On August 31, a joint operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and Meghalaya Police led to the apprehension of a Bangladeshi smuggler near the international border in East Khasi Hills district. The individual, identified as 49-year-old Mohd Mijan Mia from Sunamganj district in Bangladesh, was detained in a jungle area close to the border.
Acting on specific intelligence, the 193 Battalion of BSF Meghalaya collaborated with local police forces to capture Mia. During initial questioning, Mia revealed his role as a tout, facilitating the illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals into India and participating in smuggling activities.
Mia has been handed over to the police station in Dangar for further investigation and legal proceedings. The operation underscores the continued vigilance and coordination between the BSF and local authorities in addressing cross-border smuggling and illegal migration.
