BJP’s Kushal Duwari Escalates Sivasagar Campaign, Targets Akhil Gogoi
BJP candidate Kushal Duwari intensified his campaign in the Sivasagar Assembly constituency on the run-up to the polls, holding multiple meetings across the town and opening his canvassing at Radhika Shanti Path in Sivasagar. Speaking to supporters, Duwari expressed confidence of victory and outlined a focused, local campaign strategy as campaigning gathers pace.
Duwari said he and AGP leader Pradip Hazarika are conducting separate campaigns in their respective constituencies rather than coordinating jointly. He presented his outreach as concentrated on constituency-level issues and direct voter contact.
Turning his fire at opposition leader Akhil Gogoi of Raijor Dal, Duwari insisted Gogoi’s influence in Sivasagar has waned. “No one listens to Akhil Gogoi anymore. If he speaks to 10 people, 100 people are joining my side from Raijor Dal,” he claimed, framing Gogoi as no longer a decisive political force locally.
Duwari added that Gogoi does not pose a political challenge in Sivasagar and said his own campaign will remain centred on what he described as the constituency’s real issues. He also predicted that Gogoi would be defeated in the forthcoming election, presenting that outcome as likely.
As part of an intensive outreach plan, the BJP candidate is scheduled to hold ten election meetings across all wards of Sivasagar town in a single day, signalling an aggressive push for voter engagement ahead of polling.
Responding to criticism from opponents, Duwari rejected attempts to discredit him and said Gogoi “does not need to introduce me. The people of Sivasagar know me very well. He is trying to win elections by calling me a murderer, but people know the truth,” asserting that local voters are aware of his record and that negative labels will not sway them.
