The Arunachal Pradesh government has ordered a major police reshuffle, transferring and posting 27 senior officers from the Indian Police Service (IPS) and the Arunachal Pradesh Police Service (APPS), an official Home Department notification said. The transfers were ordered by the Governor following a meeting of the Police Establishment Board (PEB), the notification added.
Senior IPS officer Chinmoy Biswal has been appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Security/Crime. Joy Tirkey has been given additional charge as DIG Headquarters, while IPS officer Mangesh, who is currently serving in Delhi, will take over as DIG (TCL).
Key district-level changes include Akshat Kausal’s appointment as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Tirap, replacing Aditya Singh, who has been posted as SP of Longding. Shivendu Bhushan, previously SP (Crime), will assume charge as SP of East Kameng.
Several other district postings were announced: Sandhya Swamy is the new SP of Kra Daadi; Pankaj Kumar will serve as SP of Dibang Valley; Swati Singh has been posted as SP of Pakke Kesang; and Tasi Darang will take charge as SP of Tawang. D W Thungon, formerly SP of Tawang, has been transferred as SP of West Kameng.
The reshuffle also assigns officers to key investigative and special units. Achin Garg has been posted as SP (Crime) and Anjitha Chepyala will head SP SIT/Cyber Crime. Dekio Gumja has been named SP of the Special Task Force (STF), and Sepraj Perme will serve as SP of SDRF/Home Guards/Civil Defence.
In addition, the order includes appointments of several officers as commanding officers of various Indian Reserve Battalions (IRBn) and the Arunachal Armed Police Battalion (AAPBn) across the state. Officials said the transfers are aimed at streamlining police administration and further strengthening the state’s law-and-order machinery.
