Unlock the Future: Google’s Gemini Task Automation Now in Beta for Galaxy S26!

Google has officially begun rolling out its Gemini task automation feature, also known as screen automation, to Samsung Galaxy S26 series smartphones in beta. This innovative functionality enables the AI assistant to perform specific tasks within supported apps, allowing users to order food or book rides simply by issuing commands.

According to reports from The Verge and 9To5Google, the rollout commenced with a recent update for Galaxy S26 devices. The Gemini AI can engage with selected delivery and rideshare applications through a virtual interface, handling processes like selecting items, entering destinations, or adding products to a cart. However, it stops short of completing transactions independently, prompting the user for approval before finalizing any orders.

Initially announced during the recent launch of Samsung’s flagship devices, the Gemini feature was not available in early units but is now gradually being extended to Galaxy S26 smartphones. Excitingly, the task automation will also be making its way to Google Pixel 10 series devices, though that rollout is yet to start. For now, availability is expected to be limited to users in the United States and South Korea.

At present, Gemini’s task automation supports a select range of apps primarily focused on food delivery and rideshare services. Notable platforms included in this initial offering are Uber, Lyft, Uber Eats, Grubhub, DoorDash, and Starbucks.

Gemini task automation is designed to streamline routine actions across various apps, minimizing the need for users to manually navigate each interface. When a user issues a command-like ordering dinner or booking a ride-Gemini opens the relevant application in a background window and automatically executes the necessary steps. This process may involve entering locations, browsing through menus, or adding items to a shopping cart.

The automation operates seamlessly while the phone remains usable for other activities. Users can continue texting or browsing the web while the assistant carries out the automated tasks. Notifications will provide progress updates, allowing users to keep track of the process and intervene if needed.

Importantly, Gemini does not finalize transactions autonomously. Instead, it pauses before the last confirmation step, giving users a chance to review the details before completing an order or booking. This safeguard ensures that users maintain control over their transactions, enhancing confidence in the automated system.

Although the feature was first previewed last month, Google has confirmed that its initial launch will prioritize Samsung Galaxy S26 series devices, with the Pixel 10 lineup expected to follow. As this technology develops, it has the potential to redefine how users interact with their devices and apps, offering a faster, more efficient way to manage everyday tasks.

As tech enthusiasts monitor this rollout, the Gemini task automation promises to reshape the mobile experience by further integrating AI capabilities into our daily lives, making it a noteworthy development in the realm of mobile technology.
