Numal Momin, Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly and a BJP leader, said on March 11 that the opposition led by Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi would suffer a decisive defeat in the upcoming 2026 Assam Assembly elections, predicting a record-breaking victory for the ruling party.
Extending his “best wishes” to Gogoi and his team, Momin asserted that opposition candidates would lose in every constituency they contest and specifically claimed that Gogoi would face a heavy defeat if he contests from Jorhat.
Momin further argued that the 2026 polls would produce a historic outcome, saying the results will reflect continued public support for the ruling alliance and its governance in Assam.
